Third class experience

On Tuesday 19th , I had my third class experience with basic level. First, I started the class with a warm up activity. Then, I explained them the grammar notes about the how to make the negative form of the simple present tense, how to make interrogative questions, how to give short answers and also how to make Wh- Questions.

As you can see, I explained them a lot of grammar and with the grammar part we have to be very careful, because teacher told me that she liked the way I explained the grammar notes but I must remember to add repetition, specially; when introducing a new structure. I consider that it is really important to put in practice that so that students can internalize better the information. Therefore, we need to have very clear what we are going to do in the class in order that our students can learn in a better way.

At the end of the class, I just made some practice with them according to what I already explained them and they participated in each activity that I did. What I can say about this teaching practice is that I learned something new in every class, especially; with the feedbacks that the teacher gave me. And all the experience that I obtained and all the feedbacks are going to help me a lot in order to do the best in next classes.

My second class experience

Today I had my second class experience with basic level. At the beginning of the class, I started with a warm up activity that is called: “pass the balls”. Then, I gave them a reading that contained the use of the simple present tense in which they had to underline all the verbs they find in the reading. In this class, I taught students about the simple present tense and the possessive case. First, I explained them the grammar part about the simple present and I provided them some examples. I also explained them some of the main rules to form the possessive case and they also had some practice about it.

I think in this class were many things that went well, for example; I could get students’ attention while I was explaining the grammar part and I could see most of them understood the information, because I tried to give them understandable explanation and examples. They also participated in all the activities that I did.

Something that did not go so well was that some students had problems at the moment to develop the exercises, because they found kind of difficult the exercises, but I thought  it was going to be easy for them; and that they were going to be able to develop the activity in few minutes. So, these were some of the problems  I had during the class, because I spent a lot of time in this activity and I did not expect that.

I have learned that we need to be careful to set the time; and we also have to select very well the materials we are going to use and be ready to things which are unexpected, because as teachers we need to be ready to deal with different situations.

My firts class experience

On Tuesday 5th, I had my first teaching experience with basic level. At the beginning of the class, I felt kind of nervous because they are a lot of students. Then, I started to feel more comfortable working with them.

First, I started the class with a warm up activity and I could see students really liked it. Then, I gave them a short reading about Beyonce and they had to fill in the blanks with the "verb to be" and possessive adjectives. In this class, students had more practice and exercises, because the teacher had already introduced the topic and the grammar part. That is why, I gave them more exercises about the "verb to be" using the affirmative, negative and interrogative form, and a little bit about possessive adjectives.

I would like to say that I feel satisfied because this group is very nice. They pay attention to what I tell them and they understand very well the instructions of the activities they are going to work with.

In this class, Most of the students participated in the activities I assigned them and it makes me feel proud of them, because I can see students are willing to learn and cooperate with me. I consider they did a good job at the moment to perform the activities and I hope they continue cooperating with me, because it facilitates my teaching process. So, I want to continue doing my best in this teaching practicum in order that students can learn in a better way.
